Chelsea on Worst Defensive Run

Image
Gett ? H aving conceded in nine consecutive Premier League games, the leaders are on their worst defensive run since Andre Villas Boas' tenure Chelsea may be waltzing to the Premier League title, but their defensive record is something Antonio Conte will be keen to look at once the dust has settled on his first season at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have long been famed for their prowess at the back, while Conte's Juventus backline was similarly notorious for grinding out clean sheets. Since moving to the Bridge, however, the Italian has struggled to strike the balance between attack and defence. Josh King's goal for Bournemouth on Saturday marked the ninth straight Premier League game in which Chelsea had conceded And while Chelsea nevertheless ran out 3-1 winners, you have to look all the way back to Andre Villas-Boas' tenure in 2011-12 to find the last time their net was breached on such a regular basis. Still, that

Churches Are Part of The People Encouraging Corruption in Nigeria...... Says Obasanjo

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that church leaders are part of the people encouraging corruption in Nigeria. Obasanjo stated this on Saturday, while speaking at the convention of Victory Life Bible Church International in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He was represented at the event by Femi Olajide, who is the chapel of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library’s Christ the Glorious King Church. “There is no doubt that all our institutions have been tarnished by the brush of corruption. “If the Church, as an institution, does not take bribe or get involved in other corrupt practice, the behaviour of some of our men of God leaves much to be desired. “They not only celebrate but venerate those whose sources of wealth are questionable. They accept gifts (offering) from just anybody without asking questions. This gives the impression that anything is acceptable in the house of God. “But if Jesus can chase out those buying and selling from the temple with the declaration

The Kids are NOT alright........ Says Mourinho

Getty Im Apr 9, 2017 09:00:07 The Portuguese insisted he had a great record for developing young players but the early signs at Manchester United are far from good COMMENT Perhaps it was no coincidence that this was the week Manchester United tied down academy product Jesse Lingard to a new four-year deal. After months of negotiations, the 24-year-old winger penned a £100,000-a-week contract which gave Jose Mourinho the chance to promote his apparent vision for the club’s youngsters.  “He’s English, made in the academy. They’re very important in the club these players made at home, so it’s a very important contract,” the manager said of Lingard. But coming in the wake of criticisms of other young players it was a notable reminder of how he had set his stall out when first becoming United boss last summer. “I know the history, I know the legacy, I know what is behind me. I know what the fans expect of me,” he said in his intr

PDP Crisis: ‘Why I Will Never Attend Any Future Meeting With Jonathan’ – Ali Modu Sheriff After walking out on former President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday, April 6, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has vowed not to attend any future meeting with the Bayelsa politician, stating that reconciliation has died in the party. He accused the former President of deviating from agreements he said he had with him before they agreed to be part of the meeting, which was held at the Yar’Adua Centre. Sheriff, who walked out of the meeting when he was denied the opportunity to preside over it, said that there was no way the party would be meeting and he would sit as a mere spectator when he remains the only person recognised by law as the authentic national chairman of the party. Speaking through his appointed Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh in Abuja on Friday, Sheriff also said he would not appoint anyone to join the
